Klay was born in Alexandria, Egypt in 1977. He is specialized in Painting and graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria in 2000. In 2012, Klay completed a Ph.D. that was titled the Impact of Ancient Egyptian Art upon Modern and Contemporary Art. He is a member of the Fine Artists Syndicate located in Alexandria and works as a lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Alexandria.
Klay’s career portrays a wide spectrum of solo and group exhibitions. Solo, local exhibitions of his include ones that were held at Kasr El Tazauk (2006), Alexandria Creativity Center (2008), Mahmoud Said Museum (2009), Gezira Arts Center (2012), Capital Art Gallery (2016), ArtSmart Gallery (2017), Samah Art Gallery (2019), Faculty of Fine Arts (2019), and Tam Art Gallery (2021). His work was also exhibited in group, local exhibitions in Al-Fayoum (1997), Al-Behira (1998), Port Said (2005), Alexandria (2007), Cairo (2010), and Sharm El-Sheik (2013) at a variety of art fairs and institutions.
Alongside his impressive list of local exhibitions, Klay also participated in numerous international group exhibitions in Muscat (2006), India (2007), France (2007), Dubai (2018), Jordan (2018), and most recently Kuwait (2021). Over the course of his career, Klay has organized over 10 art workshops between the years 1998 and 2019 for students both inside and outside Egypt. Collectibles of his can be found at the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Museum of Fine Arts, Contemporary Arts Museum in Luxor, CIB bank as well as the private collections of individuals both in Egypt and abroad.
