Shakir Alousi


Shakir graduated from the University of Baghdad (Academy of Fine Arts) in 1998, Painting Department and holds a Master’s Degree from College of Fine Arts in Baghdad, Iraq (2001). Shakir worked as a lecturer at various universities including University of Baghdad and Iraqi Cultural Center (Washington, DC) between the years 1998 and 2014. He is a member of Society of Iraqi Plastic Artists, Iraqi Artists Syndicate as well as the International Association of Art.
Throughout his professional career as an artist, Shakir has held several solo exhibitions and contributed in many two-person exhibitions at Orfaly Art Center (Jordan, 2018), Al Owais Art Center (UAE, 2017), Iraqi Cultural Center (the USA, 2014), Art Centre Gallery (Bahrain, 2006) as well as Orfaly Gallery (Iraq 1994 & 1996). Alongside his solo exhibitions, Shakir has also contributed in numerous group exhibitions including seven exhibitions at different art institutions and galleries in the USA (2016-2010) as well as others at Quibab Gallery (UAE, 2007), The French Cultural Centre (Baghdad, 2006), Odori (Tokyo, 2005), The Syrian Cultural Centre (Paris, 2004) among others in Morocco (2001), Pakistan (2001), Tunisia (2001), Lebanon (2000-2001), and Jordan (1996).
